Rotterdam’s nightlife is disappearing, and the communities that built its culture are losing their places.
As humans we sweat, touch and contaminate everything around us, and without noticing we end up connected to whoever is around.
So we asked: how can the personal traces left in a gathering space create togetherness and community?
We worked like a forensic unit, looking for traces in the places where we usually hang out. To collect and organise them, we built two platforms: a digital one, prototyped in Figma, and an analog one, a memorabilia box. I designed and built the box myself. It holds exercises to share with people in the smoking areas of clubs, so we could build a physical connection and collect traces as a community.
